How to Use Your Canva Designs on Your Digital Signage Screens with DotSignage

If you’re already creating stunning visuals on Canva for signages, why start from scratch?

With DotSignage, you can take your Canva designs and get them up on your screens in just a few minutes. No downloads, no complicated steps, just a quick link and you’re live.

All you need to do is just copy paste the embed link on the Canva App in the DotSignage CMS.

Here’s exactly how to do it:

Step 1 - Find the Canva App in DotSignage

Head over to the App Store section inside your DotSignage dashboard. Look for the Canva App, click on it, and hit Link Canva.

Step 2 - Name It and Paste Your Link

Give your Canva design a relevant name so you can find it easily later. Then, grab your shareable link from Canva.

Here’s how to get it:

  • Open your design in Canva
  • Click on Share on the top right
  • Go to Embed
  • Copy the Smart Embed Link

Now paste that link into DotSignage and you’re almost there.

Step 3 - Got Multiple Slides? Here's What to Do

If your Canva design has more than one page or slide, select Yes when asked about multiple slides. You’ll then need to fill in:

Number of slides – how many pages your design has

Slide interval – how long each slide stays on screen

Link or page refresh – enter the time in Minutes here

This keeps your content rotating smoothly on screen without any manual effort.

Step 4 - Setting the Page Refresh

The Page Refresh option is to make sure your screens always show the most up-to-date version of your Canva design. Here’s why it matters, when DotSignage embeds your Canva link, it loads the design at that point in time.

If you later go back into Canva and make changes to your design, those updates won’t automatically appear on your screen straightaway.

That’s where Page Refresh comes in. You set up a refresh time in Minutes, and DotSignage will automatically reload the Canva link at that interval, pulling in the latest version of your design without you having to do anything manually.

For example:

  • Set it to 30 minutes and your screen will refresh and check for updates every half hour
  • Set it to 60 minutes for an hourly refresh
  • If your design doesn’t change often, a longer refresh time works just fine

A Quick but Important Note

  • The Canva integration is a quick and convenient way to get your designs on screen. However, we recommend exporting your files from Canva and uploading them directly in the Design section of DotSignage to ensure better quality, a sharper display, and more reliable playback.
  • The Canva link feature supports static designs only . Videos, animations, or moving elements in Canva will not play through the embed link.
  • For animated or video content, exporting and uploading your files is the recommended approach.

Wrapping It Up

The Canva integration in DotSignage is perfect for getting your designs on screen quickly, especially if you're already working in Canva and just need a fast way to push content live. It's not the most production-heavy method, but for static visuals it gets the job done fast.

And when you need the best possible quality? Export, upload, and let DotSignage handle the rest.
